C-TPAT
C-TPAT (Customs- Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) is a voluntary government
program that ensures the integrity of shipments and communicates the defined security
guidelines to business partners within the supply chain. In return, Customs offers benefits
such as fewer examinations, account management and an emphasis of self-policing.
SEKO agreed to participate in this program and was awarded certification in January,
2004.
The program encompasses a description of our facilities' security measures; a theft
prevention program, shipping and receiving controls, IT security controls, controls
for reporting and correcting problems, pre-employment screenings and background
checks, employee training on security awareness and procedures, internal codes of
conduct, written standards for service providers' physical and procedural security
and internal controls for the selections of service providers.
Benefits for SEKO and our clients:
- Reduced number of inspections at the borders
- Emphasis of self-policing, not Customs verification
- Competitive advantage over competitors not participating in C-TPAT
- Significantly improves our supply chain security
